The Sibyl Society
The Sibyl Society is a women's educational and service organization based in San Francisco, California. The Sibyl Society hosts ladies' teas, clothing swaps, book discussions, sewing circles, a garden club, service trainings, and other contemporary interpretations of traditional women's gatherings.
Our goal is to promote women's education and host social events for our community.

We honor the Sibyls as wise women of the ancient world. Sibyls were female oracles whose prophesies were consulted at times of momentous crises. The Sibylline Books were a collection of their oracular utterances set out in Greek hexameters. Destroyed by fire in 83 BCE, the Sibylline Books were recreated in 76 BCE by envoys sent by the Roman Senate. The Sibylline Books disappeared in AD 405.
